Siena President Massimo Mezzaroma said Milan only won last night “with an own goal and a penalty they wouldn’t even give on Mars.”

The hard-fought 2-0 result at San Siro came from Antonio Nocerino’s deflected shot and a debatable spot-kick awarded for Kevin-Prince Boateng’s clash with goalkeeper Zeljko Brkic.

“I was in the stands and asked myself how certain penalties can be awarded,” protested the President.

“Boateng clearly dived on to Brkic. It’s crazy. Up until that moment the referee had done well, but he and the linesman really got it wrong.

“Considering the referee’s position, I can give him the benefit of the doubt, but the assistant was right there with a clear line of vision.

“I have to compliment my players, because they did very well. At the end of the day, Milan won with an own goal and a penalty they wouldn’t even give on Mars.

“We were also a little unlucky, as Francesco Bolzoni’s shot in the first half went wide by a matter of centimetres.”
