Serie A new boys Siena have denied an interest in Philippe Coutinho of Internazionale.

Reports had started to gather pace that the Tuscan side wanted to sign the Brazilian on a loan deal.

However, speaking to FcInterNews.it, Siena sporting director Giorgio Perinetti has silenced the whispers.

"There are a lot of rumours being read during these times," the former Bari official noted.

"I can assure you that we have never gone after the player and we haven't spoken to Inter about him.

"I'll also take this opportunity to deny that I ever said that we were looking for a player with Coutinho's characteristics."

The 19-year-old, likened to Brazilian legend Zico, joined the Nerazzurri last summer from Vasco Da Gama.

Coutinho played in 20 games in all competitions for Inter last term, scoring one goal in the process.
