Andriy Shevchenko is back in Rossoneri colours after visiting his old club. “Milan feels like my home.”

The Ukrainian was at San Siro for last night’s 1-1 draw with Lazio and watched the game with former teammate Paolo Maldini.

“It is always a marvellous sensation to be here,” Sheva told Milan Channel at the training ground today.

“Milan feels like my home. Milanello hasn’t changed much and it’s great to be back among friends.

“I am taking a course to become a Coach and studying a little here too. I spoke to Coach Massimiliano Allegri, a chat that will serve me very well in future.

“I often speak to my former teammates, such as Ricky Kaka, Pippo Inzaghi and Rino Gattuso. Many of us are retiring, so we’re starting new lives.”

While Kaka scored a goal in last night’s game, Inzaghi is now Coach of the Milan Primavera youth team and Gattuso was recently fired as Coach of Serie B side Palermo.

“I want to thank the fans for their chants yesterday at the stadium. They are always in my heart and every time I come back here it’s like diving into my memories.

“We deserved to win last night and I’m happy for Kaka’s goal, as he deserves it. The team can do better, but this is just a passing phase.

“Time passes, but Kaka is always the same: concentrated and enthusiastic. He gave a great deal to football and deserves to get a lot back. You always have fun with him on the field.”

Shevchenko scored 162 goals for Milan in 303 matches and is in the history books of the club.

“Of course being compared to greats like Marco Van Basten and Gunnar Nordahl is pleasing. All these champions wrote the history of international football and were also an example for youngsters. Seeing what Milan have won must motivate everyone who comes here.

“The fondest memory of my career is the Champions League Final victory over Juventus” data-scaytid=”37″>Juventus. That will remain indelibly marked in my thoughts as one of my happiest moments.”
