Maldini played over 400 games for the Rossoneri, winning four Scudetti and the European Cup. He would later Coach the Diavolo to the Coppa Italia and the European Cup Winners’ Cup.

After winning the European Under-21 Championship with Italy three times, he took over the senior side, working as CT at the World Cup in France in 1998.

His son Paolo also became a Milan legend, making 902 appearances in which he won seven Scudetti and five Champions League titles, as well as being capped 126 times by Italy.

The Rossoneri number 3 shirt has been semi-retired in honour of the two men, as only a Maldini will be allowed to wear it in future.

Cesare’s grandsons – Paolo’s sons –  Daniel [14] and Christian [19] are currently in the youth set-up.
