Inter’s Champions League group is taking a very strange turn, as Sheriff Tiraspol beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeu and are top with maximum points.
The Nerazzurri picked up their first point in a 0-0 draw away to Shakhtar Donetsk this evening.
However, the group sees Moldovan minnows Sheriff sit on top with six points out of six, having beaten Shakhtar 2-0 last time out and Real Madrid 2-1 today.
The extraordinary result was achieved thanks to goals from Jasurbek Yakhshiboev and Sebastien Thill.
What a strike to win it for Sheriff against Real Madrid! 🚀

Karim Benzema had temporarily equalised from the penalty spot.
This leaves qualification for the Round of 16 wide open, but Carlo Ancelotti was furious with the refereeing.
“The fourth official did not show me respect and I told him I had 130 Champions League and it was the first time I was booked for absolutely nothing,” said Ancelotti in his press conference.
“It was a continual lack of respect towards me. I would prefer not to even talk about the referee…”
Carlo is finished, time to retire.
Inter are just as bad as they needed to win that game.
@Marco.
I might be wrong but did they lose to Shakhtar at home last season and still reached the latter stages? plus it is a squad that is rebuilding.
Inter will push to beat Sherrif next two weeks in San Siro
Well done, Sheriff. A result their fans will never forget. Spanish teams have really dropped in quality in recent years after years of domination. Pity Serie A isn’t up to replacing them at the top of European football. Ancelotti well past his best too.
People thought Sheriff would be the whipping boys in this group, but here they are now, top of the table.
Inter wil need to take at least 4 points from them in the next 2 games, otherwise they’ll be staring at yet another CL embarrassment.
One thing isn’t strange. Inter AGAIN failing to simply cross the group stage in Europe. Embarrassing!
Thanks for saying ‘No’ to the Italy job Carletto!
Second go-rounds rarely work.
Seems like Inter is not advancing in UCL this year, either.
