Gianluigi Donnarumma celebrated a ‘dream’ Champions League debut as PSG beat Manchester City 2-0 and had ‘a good laugh’ at social media criticism from Milan fans.

The goalkeeper had only made two Ligue 1 appearances in the Paris Saint-Germain jersey so far this season, sitting behind Keylor Navas in the pecking order.

However, he was given the gloves in this evening’s 2-0 victory over Manchester City at Parc des Princes, his first ever Champions League match.

“I was dreaming of a debut like this and it came true,” the Italy international told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a wonderful game, an immense joy, I thank all those who were close to me during a difficult time. I was relaxed, I knew this moment would come and I enjoyed it with them.”

Idrissa Gueye scored the opener and Lionel Messi got the second goal after combining with Neymar.

“Playing with these champions is fantastic, they really help you to grow as a player. I congratulate Messi on his first goal with this jersey.”

The time Donnarumma has spent on the PSG benched has earned mockery from Milan fans who accused him of leaving to ‘count his money’ on the touchline.

“I read so many things, it’s very funny,” assured the 22-year-old.

“I know what I can do and there’s no problem. I am here, I’m happy to be here and the club supports me. I have a good laugh when I read these dumb things on social media.”

  1. brilliant performance from donurumma in bars. was outstanding. you just feel it wont be long before psg ease him into the starting role over navas

  2. Once again…Messi sinks a Premier League club…..He would absolutely destroy the Premier League, if he played there……….
