Roma forward Stephan El Shaarawy turned down a move to Shanghai Shenhua, but multiple sources claim the Chinese club are raising their offer.

The 26-year-old said it was “too early” in his career to consider such a move, but his Roma future is in doubt, as his contract runs to June 2020 and a renewal seems difficult.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Tempo newspapers, Shanghai Shenhua are ready to raise their offer to make it even more tempting.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Il Tempo newspapers, Shanghai Shenhua are ready to raise their offer to make it even more tempting.

The transfer fee would be €15m plus €5m in virtually assured add-ons, not to mention a huge salary for the player.

It’d be a three-year contract worth €40m net over the full period of the deal.
