Emery emerged as a late candidate to come in at San Siro this summer, but on from Sevilla’s insistence that a renewal would be signed imminently with them, the Rossoneri have seemingly turned their attention to Pippo Inzaghi.

“It is a fact that the renewal would have gone unnoticed if it had not been for Milan,” sporting director Monchi has reflected on Sevilla’s official website today.

“Everything was discussed, but it was impossible to sit down with him because he was focused on the competition. There has been this story, which did not worry us, because we already met and  that particular tide had passed.

“For the tranquillity of the supporters, on Wednesday the renewal will be signed. When a Coach wants to be here, he is. When he does not, he should not be.

“If Emery had renewed and Milan came in and he wanted to go, he would have gone. I know that Unai has heard Milan’s [interest], but I also know at the forefront of his mind was this project.

“Unai is an involved worked and a man of this club. He is faithful to his work. I think that Sevilla have a great Coach and hopefully he will be here for a long time.”
