Napoli were the only top six team in the table to win in Week 21, as Dave Taylor puts together his best XI from the action.

Diego Lopez [Milan]

Could do nothing about Parma’s goal but kept Milan in it when parrying several crosses out of danger and specifically when blocking a ferocious strike from Silvestre Varela before quickly recovering to save from Antonio Nocerino’s follow-up. Commanding.

Sime Vrsaljko [Sassuolo]

Sime Vrsaljko [Sassuolo]

Got stuck into his defensive duties with real commitment and made sure that Inter had no leeway. Also made several delightful runs synchronizing them with menacing crosses.  Overpowering.

Gonzalo Rodriguez [Fiorentina]

Whenever he was needed he was there making sure the Genoa forwards didn’t get too much of a look in. An all-round solid game capped off with the vital equaliser that saved Viola’s blushes. Fundamental.

Ivan Strinic [Napoli]

Looks to have settled in early and was always ready in defence keeping the Chievo right flank occupied while he threatened up front at times. Always looking for the right pass it was from his assist that Napoli scored the winning goal. Supportive.

Bruno Peres [Torino]

Absolutely crackled out on the right, causing no end of pain for the Samp defence with his key passes and dangerous crosses. Finally topped a great performance with a stunning solo goal that saw him dodge a defender before flicking over the ‘keeper. Menacing.

Franco Vazquez [Palermo]

Palermo’s trump card tested the visitors on several occasions. Laid off some superb passes, kept probing and rewarded when he crossed for Andrea Belotti to convert with a flying header. Threatening.

Allan [Udinese]

Won the battle of the midfield keeping Paul Pogba quiet. Always tenacious and unafraid to show his strength he covered a lot of ground, started off several attacks, broke up play and made a couple of important recovery tackles. Intimidating.

Diego Perotti [Genoa]

Caused real problems for Fiorentina every time he got the ball, inspiring throughout, he almost scored the winner at the end with a sublime back heel flick that was just cleared away off the line. Unapproachable.

Jeremy Menez [Milan]

A great day at the office for the revitalised Frenchman, with two goals and a splendid assist. He opened up the scoring with a well-taken penalty, added a sublime left footer into the bottom corner before producing his assist. Magnificent.

Fabio Quagliarella [Torino]

A top performance by the ex-Samp striker who scored a hat-trick with the opener seeing him outmuscle a defender to volley home. Later he converted a penalty before neatly collecting a pass and superbly beating the ‘keeper with a diagonal ball. Superior.

Gregoire Defrel [Cesena]

Uncompromising in attack the Frenchman was all over the Lazio defence. He was at his most dangerous in the second half when he scored from outside the area as he whipped a thunderbolt home. Still not finished he also set up Lazio’s own goal. Authoritative.

Special mentions: Manolo Gabbiadini [Napoli], Simone Zaza [Sassuolo], Paulo Dybala [Palermo], Nicola Sansone [Sassuolo], Danielle Capelli [Cesena], Edgar Baretto [Palermo], Ivan Piris [Udinese], Andrea Belotti [Palermo].
