Crosses, corners, defending, dribbling, there wasn’t much Hey Jose didn’t do. Has integrated himself into the team and the hearts of the fans and his awesome, curling left-footer for the opener was a perfect example of his skills. Splendid.
Marek Hamsik [Napoli]
Marekiaro is back on form with all the commitment, accuracy and great goals he is known for. Following some great work by Lorenzo Insigne he thundered home an unstoppable left footer and also just missed with a long-distance effort. Assured.
Borja Valero [Fiorentina]
The Spaniard was all over the pitch, setting up attacks, getting on the end of them and also defending at times. He capped a top performance when he snapped on to a parried ball and tapped home from close range. Eye-catching.
Esteban Cambiasso [Inter]
At the heart of everything good about Inter including repelling boarders, starting the offensive play and bossing the midfield. Always alert to the opposition’s weaknesses and it was his corner that set up Andrea Ranocchia’s superb volleyed goal. Dominating.

With over a hundred touches and a pass accuracy of 91 per cent, he was the liveliest player on the pitch. Always looking to cause problems, it was his assist that set up Kevin Strootman’s opening goal.

The veteran was the archetypal big man striker, scoring a header from a corner in a crowded box. Using his experience and strength he held on to the ball, brought others into play and scored again but judged offside. Distinguished.
