Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora joined Players’ Association President Damiano Tommasi in calling publicly for the football tournaments to be suspended in Italy during the Coronavirus outbreak.
However, the Lega Serie A pointed out that the latest Government decree – updated at 2am last night – stated professional games could continue behind closed doors.
With that in mind, the all-clear was given for this weekend’s fixtures, but the situation will be discussed all over again in the emergency meeting on Tuesday in Rome.
