Serie A clubs are ready to sue Sky, DAZN and IMG if they don’t get their TV rights money on time, regardless of the lockdown, claims the Corriere dello Sport.

According to the newspaper, the TV companies have asked to spread out or at least delay the payment of the final €233m instalment of the rights package.

This is because the coronavirus pandemic and consequent shutdown have left them with no sport to transmit.

However, the clubs are refusing to give any leeway, as they too require that money to balance the books.

It’s reported the Serie A sides have already sent out the invoices, putting them in a position to sue should there be any delay.

They are not prepared to even negotiate over the matter, as initial attempts at talks with Sky Sport Italia, DAZN and IMG broke down.

There has been no football in Italy for well over a month and still no set date for its return, although May 27-June 3 has been floated.
