The Italian Footballers' Association [AIC] has announced its intention to strike after negotiations over a collective bargaining agreement with the Lega Calcio broke down.
Serie A players had threatened to take industrial action two months ago, but the event was called off after mediation from the Italian Football Federation [FIGC].

A statement read: "The Serie A players have taken into consideration the approach shown by the Lega, who have turned down the proposal of the FIGC President, Giancarlo Abete [pictured], which is also shared by the AIC, to limit to just six points the negotiations of the Collective Agreement, with the exclusion of two other points (players out of squad and forced transfers), which from the start were not accepted by the AIC.
"Through their representatives, they have therefore announced the decision to not go out on the pitch in one of the next round of games as a sign of protest.
"The AIC will wait until November 30 to announce the date of strike action."
