Parma boss Pasquale Marino and match-winner Valeri Bojinov have expressed their relief after finally returning to winning ways.

The Tardini outfit hadn't won in the League since the opening round of the season before last night's 1-0 over Sampdoria.

"This victory means so much to the squad," said the Bulgarian who netted the late goal. "We hadn't won a match for almost three months.

"We were in the last chance saloon because the other teams were starting to get away from us, but now we must just concentrate on ourselves.

"Our objective is to reach 40 points."

Parma began the evening bottom of the table, but are now just three points away from mid-table given the compactness of the championship this term.

"We've been waiting for this victory for some time," said under-pressure tactician Marino. "Tension and anxiety has built up.

"But now I am happy for our President who has shown that he has great faith in all of us. He is the man who decides whether to keep or sack a Coach and I thank him for tonight.

"Now we can start to believe in ourselves again. We just needed a win to get us out of this situation."
