Serie A Highlights: Fiorentina 3-1 Sampdoria

The Viola are a completely different prospect at home compared to away and fumbled a lead to lose 2-1 at Empoli. Bartlomiej Dragowski, Erick Pulgar, Matija Nastasic and Gaetano Castrovilli were still not fully fit. Albin Ekdal sat out a ban for Samp, with Mikkel Damsgaard and Fabio Depaoli injured.

Cristiano Biraghi’s free kick landed on the roof of the net, but Samp took the lead against the run of play, Antonio Candreva whipping in a cross from the right for Manolo Gabbiadini’s glancing header into the far corner.

Fiorentina’s equaliser was by Jose Callejon, reminiscent of so many he scored in the Napoli jersey, ghosting to the back post to tap in a Riccardo Sottil cross.

The Viola turned it around completely when Giacomo Bonaventura burst down the right and floated the cross in for Dusan Vlahovic, who peeled away from his marker for a header into the ground.

Bartosz Bereszynski saw his curler go just over the bar, but the third goal arrived on the stroke of half-time. Bonaventura’s shot was deflected into the path of Riccardo Sottil for a tap-in from close range.

Gabbiadini and Bonaventura had chances after the break, while Pietro Terracciano rushed out to deny Francesco Caputo.

It remained open, Terracciano making a save on Gabbiadini, then Sottil firing wide on the counter after he’d seemingly done the hard work.

Vlahovic didn’t get enough power on his header and Candreva tested Terracciano late on.
