Pavel Nedved assures Juventus have not ‘over-stretched’ themselves financially and the players won’t be distracted by the investigation into inflated transfer fees, known as plusvalenze.

The last few days have been disastrous for Juventus, who lost against Chelsea and Atalanta, but were also at the centre of an investigation into inflated transfer fees.

“There are some difficulties, every year is different,” Nedved told DAZN at the Stadio Arechi in Salerno.

“At times you think that you’re strong, but then everything goes wrong. Other times you feel less impressive and it all goes your way. Every year is different.”

Considering the rising debts and financial situation that forced them to increase the Capital again, have Juventus over-stretched themselves?

“I don’t think so. We released a very clear statement, President Andrea Agnelli also expressed himself. He spoke to the team, the employees, and also to majority shareholder John Elkann. I don’t think it’s right that I add anything to all of that.”

There were reports today that the growing difficulties could prompt Elkann to remove Agnelli as President of Juventus, or at least revamp the existing group of directors.

“I don’t think there will be problems within the club and I certainly don’t believe it will affect the players. They are experienced and focused on the pitch.

“Over these years, and I have been off the field for 11 years now, we’ve had many difficulties and always got through them.”

As for the players, Alvaro Morata is dropped to the bench this evening, giving Moise Kean a chance to shine.

“Our players are accustomed to criticism when they play below their expectations. Alvaro is satisfying the coach,” insisted Nedved.

“We expect something more in terms of goals not just from him, but all the strikers, who are not delivering what they could do.”
