Leonardo Semplici was satisfied with SPAL’s 1-1 draw at relegation rivals Sassuolo this afternoon.

The Biancazzurri were pegged back by Khouma Babacar’s penalty after Mirco Antenucci had given them the lead, but they held on for a point that ensured they remain level on points with today's opponents.

“We gave continuity to our recent good performances,” Semplici, whose side had won their two previous matches prior to today, reflected post-match.

“We approached it very well and deservedly went in front. Then, a few incidents got Sassuolo back into it and we became disjointed.

“We welcome this result which carries on our good run of form.”

Semplici was asked about the form of Antenucci but preferred instead to focus on the team as a whole.

“He is having a good season, but I am happy with the whole team.

“We need to work on conceding fewer goals, we are improving.

“By continuing in this way, we can be happy and reach our objective.”
