The season may well be over for Ciro Immobile, as the Lazio striker and current Capocannoniere limped off in tears.

It was only 13 minutes into tonight’s Serie A match away to Torino when he ran on to a through ball, but suddenly pulled up clutching the back of his right thigh.

He immediately asked to be substituted and made way for Felipe Caicedo.

Moments later, Immobile was spotted in tears on the bench, as if it is confirmed to be a thigh or even hamstring strain, his season is effectively over.

There are only three rounds left to play and Lazio are fighting for a Champions League spot, including the final head-to-head with Inter.

It is also a potentially decisive blow to Immobile’s hopes of the Capocannoniere title and the Golden Boot.

The 28-year-old has scored 29 Serie A goals this term, but the tally is 41 including the Europa League, Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup.
