Khouma Babacar is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, confirmed Fiorentina medics.

The Senegalese striker went off during last night’s 1-0 home defeat to Verona.

Today tests showed the right knee sprain had also created collateral medial ligament damage and he will be out of action for around six weeks.

This means the campaign is effectively over for the young striker.

His last-gasp goal had given Fiorentina a precious 1-1 Europa League quarter-final draw away to Dynamo Kiev last week.
