After a difficult season in Naples last term, Brazilian midfielder Jorginho has become a key part of Maurizio Sarri’s plans, and his agent insists he was never worried.

“I always had faith in Jorginho, even when he wasn’t playing much,” Joao Santos told Radio Crc.

“He’s a good player, and now he’s showing he can be good for Napoli. He was great against Palermo and I hope can do well against Genoa. Jorginho is a marathon runner, and has no problem playing every three days.

“The Scudetto? Napoli shouldn’t worry about anything, they just have to take it one game at a time and get as many points as possible.

“Then, when the campaign is at an advanced stage, they can think about something important, but only in April, not before.”

Santos also discussed the possibility of a renewal with the Vesuviani, and underlines his client’s desire to play for Italy.

“I often speak with [sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli, we’re discussing some things and I have to say that everything is positive.

“If he keeps doing well he’ll be at Napoli for a long time. I’ve talked with Giuntoli, but talks are only in their infancy and we hope something will materialise in the future.

“There’s a willingness on both sides to continue together. Jorginho is playing for one of the biggest teams in Italy, and he’s a starter, so it’s natural to talk about a renenwal.

“Hopefully he can also go to the national team, if [CT Antonio] Conte wants a regista, Jorginho would be happy.

“I’ll go to Brazil tomorrow, then after the international break I’ll be in Naples.”
