Patrik Schick has revealed that a ‘rivalry’ exists between him and Edin Dzeko but insisted ‘I can learn a lot’ from his Roma teammate.

A lack of form and fitness had prevented Schick from displacing Dzeko as Roma’s regular lone striker, but the Czech followed up his first goal of the season with the winner against Slovakia in the Nations League.

“I feel very good. It’s a good spell for me,” he told SNTV.

“I don’t think a switch has gone off in my head. It’s because I’m training better now and I feel better than I did last season. I can learn a lot from Edin.

“Both of us want to play, so a certain rivalry exists between us because only one striker gets to play.

“However, we’re very good friends because he speaks my language. I didn’t really like playing as a striker but everything changed against Barcelona.

“I felt great, I was working for the team and the result was fantastic. In the next few games I’ll try to show what I can do, but it’ll only depend on how I play and what I do. We’ll see.

“Real [Madrid] are in a bit of bother. They’ve changed Coach, but Real will always be Real and the Champions League will always be the Champions League.

“It’ll be a beautiful match for the fans but very difficult for us. Rumours? I’ve heard things, but my ideas are clear: I only want to stay here and show what I can do.”
