Atalanta star Ezequiel Schelotto feels he would be a good addition to Cesare Prandelli’s Italian national squad.

The midfielder has dreams of breaking into the Azzurri set-up after the Coach made it clear that he would consider Oriundi – foreign-born players with Italian passports.

“I hope to be called into the squad at some stage,” the Argentine told Radio Sportiva on Thursday afternoon.

“Coach Prandelli’s system suits me and I therefore have a great desire to play for the Nazionale,” he added.

“It would be great to wear the Azzurri jersey, but I know that I am still young and that I have a lot to learn.”

Schelotto, born in Buenos Aires in 1989, has appeared for Italy at Under-21 level after wining three caps for the Azzurrini.

Prandelli has selected Brazilian-born Amauri and Thiago Motta since 2010, as well as Argentines Cristian Ledesma and Daniel Pablo Osvaldo.
