Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali confirms Luca Moro will join the Neroverdi at the end of the season, but admits the deal for Lorenzo Lucca is off.

Sassuolo have been moving quickly to sign possible replacements for Gianluca Scamacca who is expected to leave at the end of the season.

The Neroverdi have signed Moro from Padova and the striker will move to the Mapei Stadium at the end of the season. However, Lucca won’t join the club, at least in January.

Sassuolo move quickly on Scamacca’s replacements

“We’ve signed Moro, but I don’t think we’ll sign Lucca, especially now, maybe in the future,” Sassuolo director Giovanni Carnevali told Sky Sport.

The Neroverdi remains in talks with Sampdoria over Gregoire Defrel’s return to Marassi.

“We are on good terms with Sampdoria, they are friends, but there isn’t much time,” said Carnevali.

“Defrel is an important player for us, but we’ll be happy to satisfy all the parties involved in the deal if there’s a chance.”
