Sassuolo have not given up hope of poaching Pippo Inzaghi from the Milan Academy to replace Eusebio Di Francesco.

The club officially fired Di Francesco today, but have not yet appointed a new Coach.

Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani confirmed in a Press conference that “Sassuolo asked us for Inzaghi, but we said he is staying here.”

However, reports continue to suggest Sassuolo President Lorenzo Squinzi – who is a lifelong Milan supporter – is pushing hard to get Inzaghi released from the Rossoneri Primavera youth job.

Squinzi is said to have called Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi to convince him into letting SuperPippo go.

Inzaghi is widely believed to be behind the move and would relish the chance to be a Serie A Coach.

The prime candidate should Inzaghi not be available is Alberto Malesani.

Meanwhile, Sassuolo have officially sold defender Lino Marzorati to Serie B side Modena.
