Sassuolo general manager Giovanni Carnevali has revealed that “the door is open” to Inter if they wish to sign Domenico Berardi.

Berardi has long been tipped to join Juventus once he leaves Sassuolo, but Carnevali hinted the Neroverdi would be happy to do business with the former’s arch-rivals if they were interested.

“We hope he stays: we can afford him,” he told Politica nel Pallone.

“He’s already attracted the big clubs, including foreign ones. It’s not true that he said ‘no’ to Juve, he just decided to stay with us.

“Inter? We leave the door open to everyone.”

Carnevali then commented on Sassuolo’s bright start to the season, which would have seen them third in Serie A were it not for an enforced defeat to Pescara after they fielded an ineligible player.

“We’ve had a very good start in the League and Europa League,” he added.

“We’re playing well and winning, and we hope to recover our seven injured players quickly.

“I’m also confident in our appeal to regain the three points for our victory on the field against Pescara so we’d be third in our own right.

“We won’t burden the team with responsibility [of a Champions League finish] but, given the prize of qualification, we’ve laid it down.”
