Maurizio Sarri could join Chelsea today, with the English club expected to announce Antonio Conte’s sacking.

The Blues have removed the former Italy CT from his position, but haven’t yet made any official announcement.

It’s thought they’re seeking to fire him for just cause, thereby avoiding paying out on the final year of his contract.

The Blues have removed the former Italy CT from his position, but haven’t yet made any official announcement.

It’s thought they’re seeking to fire him for just cause, thereby avoiding paying out on the final year of his contract.

This morning’s Gazzetta dello Sport backs that up, stating that Chelsea’s lawyer Bruce Buck told Conte and his staff that they are being sacked for “a series of irregular behaviours”.

The former Juventus Coach told Diego Costa by text last summer that he wasn’t wanted, and that is believed to be one of the reasons the Blues will give in what looks like being a lengthy court battle.

That means Sarri is now free to fly to London, with Gazzetta reporting that a compensation deal has finally been struck with Napoli.

He will sign a two-year deal with an option for a third, on a salary of around €6.4m gross per season.

Jorginho will also arrive at Stamford Bridge, while transfer targets include Gonzalo Higuain, Daniele Rugani, Aleksandr Golovin and Sime Vrsaljko.
