According to Sportmediaset, Maurizio Sarri wasn’t happy with criticism from Lazio President Claudio Lotito after Sunday’s loss to Milan: ‘This is my football, you don’t like it, bring back Stefano Pioli.’

A late goal from Sandro Tonali gave Milan all three points at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, infuriating the Lazio President.

According to Sportmediaset, the defeat sparked an argument between Lotito and coach Maurizio Sarri. The club chairman reportedly said that ‘it is not prohibited to make long passes,’ but Sarri wasn’t happy with criticism and replied: ‘This is my football, you don’t like it, bring back Stefano Pioli.’

The Biancocelesti are still fighting for a European placement and have had several highs and lows this season. Sarri had reportedly agreed to sign a contract extension at the end of 2021, but the deal has now been put on hold.

Sarri wasn’t happy with how director Igli Tare handled the January transfer window and Lotito isn’t entirely convinced about the coach’s methods, although he confirmed last week that the former Chelsea boss would not leave the club in the summer.
