Juventus Coach Maurizio Sarri is recovering from pneumonia, as he was today well enough to “partially” take charge of training.

The squad at his disposal was inevitably limited during the break for international duty, while Gonzalo Higuain and Douglas Costa have been given an extra two days off, so will return on Friday.

A statement from Juve confirmed Sarri is “improving” after his bout of pneumonia and “partially” directed today’s training session.

The Coach has been struggling for a month with the illness and was not on the touchline for the opening two Serie A games of the season against Parma and Napoli.

His assistant manager, Giovanni Martusciello, had taken his place while Sarri watched training sessions via videolink.
