Maurizio Sarri insists “there are no regrets” despite Napoli failing to win the Scudetto.

The Partenopei were winter champions, but defeat in Turin saw Juventus overtake them, and the Bianconeri romped to a fifth title in a row.

“We’ve already set a club record for points,” Sarri noted in his Press conference ahead of the Frosinone game.

“We can reach an extraordinary result [second] and we have to stay focused.

“We can reach an extraordinary result [second] and we have to stay focused.

“Would I have taken second in August? It would have seemed difficult to achieve, but from the beginning I thought we’d do well. It was difficult to know how well.

“As for the Scudetto, I was the only one who said at a certain point that Juventus would win the Scudetto.

“They were from another planet, even more than in recent years, with a winning run we’ve never seen the like of.

“To win we needed the best-equipped teams to fail this season, but that’s difficult when it’s Juventus.

“I only have tomorrow’s game in my head, because we’re playing for a big achievement. When you’re up against someone who wins 26 out of 27 games there are no regrets.

“We’ll evaluate the mistakes we made in among the millions of good decisions.”

Sarri famously said his side was “mad enough” to go to Turin and attack Juventus, does he regret that approach?

“When you’re playing a stronger team, you’ll lose nine times out of 10, and changing your identity doesn’t have a lot to do with it.

“Juventus have technical strength, but also character and mentality. You lose both [from your own team] if you go out just to try and stop them playing.

“That’s what it’s like when you face the big teams in various Leagues.”
