Maurizio Sarri matched the Napoli club record of seven consecutive wins, but still won’t mention the Scudetto race.

Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon secured a 2-0 victory away to Lazio, keeping them two points clear of Juventus at the top of the table.

“Our horizons are to the next game. Carpi have been doing very well indeed and scared Fiorentina tonight,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“It seems strange that with 15 games to go we’re talking about this. Juve have guarantees because they’ve won the title four years in a row. We have just started our process, if you look back to 15 rounds ago we were ninth and Juventus 12th. If it could change from then, it can change in future.”

Napoli scored two early goals at the Olimpico and then sat back with Lazio making few genuine chances.

“We were wrong to try and control Lazio. It’s not what we do. We are good at playing football and when we don’t do that, we become average.

“I think the midweek round subconsciously affected us and we should’ve spent much more of the second half attacking Lazio.

“I didn’t enjoy the second half at all and if it’s not entertaining, there’s no point to it.

“Callejon scored his 10th goal of the season in all competition. He is scoring goals, but also has an exemplary attitude and we can rarely do without him.”

The play was halted in the second half, as the referee heard offensive chants from Lazio supporters, some racist against Kalidou Koulibaly, others discriminatory towards Neapolitans.

“I spoke to the fourth official a few minutes before the suspension, as the situation was getting a bit embarrassing and Koulibaly was clearly struggling. I think Irrati did very well.”
