Maurizio Sarri explained his approach for Napoli’s 2-0 Europa League win at Legia Warsaw.

“Three players were carrying knocks and several others will be on international duty next week, so it was only normal I rotated the squad,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“The team played with determination and really wanted this win. I am happy we won an away fixture and it means we can rely on all of these lads.

“I was pleased to see we won and did not change shape or style despite changing several players.”

Napoli appear to have found their feet since dropping the trequartista for a 4-3-3 system.

“I am intrigued by the role of the trequartista, but despite the change of system we are still making certain movements with the wide attackers that basically create a trequartista.

“In the first half we moved the ball too slowly and that allowed Legia Warsaw to defend fairly statically. We should’ve stretched them out more and forced them to move out of position.”

The Partenopei will now visit Milan at San Siro on Sunday evening in Serie A.

“Clearly that is a very important game between two teams who still don’t know what level they can be at this season. It will be important to realise what we can do in future.”
