Maurizio Sarri is ‘in love’ with his Lazio side after their 4-0 win over Fiorentina.

The Biancocelesti secured a convincing win at the Stadio Franchi last night and are now three points behind table leaders Napoli in Serie A.

“Fiorentina had a few chances to score the equaliser, but we suffered with humility,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

“The signs from the defence were good and this solved many problems. We sat too deep, creating chaos sometimes. Now, we don’t look at the table. It’s like a marathon, we’ve run three kilometres, and we have 39 remaining.”

Ciro Immobile scored a goal and delivered an assist, joining Marko Arnautovic as the current Serie A leading scorer with six goals in nine games.

“Immobile is a special player because of his attitude and his numbers. I understand why Lazio fans are in love with this guy. For a coach, having him in the dressing room is a pleasure. This is a group that makes me feel in love. They work and are willing to help.”

Lazio are having a brilliant Serie A campaign but have been struggling in Europa League, collecting just one point in the last two matches.

“We thought it was an average group, but it’s very balanced,” noted Sarri.

“Strum Graz are among the title contenders [in the Austrian league], and Midtjylland have been a positive surprise. It looked like a clash between Feyenoord and us, but it will come down to the final match.”
