Today the former Empoli boss received the Premio Bearzot as the best Italian Coach this season, and he confirmed he’ll be staying in Naples.

“I have a special relationship with this city and the fans have always been behind me,” Sarri told reporters outside the event.

“Even after draws, the fans accepted the result. I think that’s an example of a great culture and I dedicate this award to them, since I haven’t been able to give them the prize I’d very much like to.

“My future? My feeling at this point in time is that I’m not finished at Napoli. I have a job to complete. I’m absolutely not worried about the future.”

“Sarri also reflected on the season, and gave his thoughts on the Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid.

“We’re competitive and we gave our best in every competition. On a tactical level we’re not lower than anyone, and now we have a lot of talented youngsters.

“In this last season all the teams fought to the end, and that’s a sign of a growth in mentality.

“The Champions League final? There will be two strong teams in Cardiff. It depends how each one comes into the game physically and mentally, as it’s been a long, hard season for both.

“So it’ll depend on what condition they’re in, more mentally than physically. Real Madrid have great attacking potential, Juventus have their defensiveness and anyone could win.

“Gonzalo Higuain? In his role he’s a superstar, among out-and-out number 9s he’s the best. Then there are atypical players who are also superstars.”
