Maurizio Sarri is pleased with Lazio‘s developments and suggests the club is already considering his contract extension.
The Biancocelesti beat Salernitana 3-0 at the Olimpico.
“Finally, after taking the lead, we continued playing. We had a clearly more proactive attitude than other times,” Sarri told DAZN.
Ciro Immobile scored his 161st goal with the Biancocelesti. He had become the best goal-scorer in the club’s history after his goal against Marseille earlier this week.
“Ciro is an atypical finisher,” said Sarri.
“Usually, these kinds of players are selfish. Instead, he is always available to the team. He has a beautiful personality, one of the souls of the team, on and off the pitch. An amazing guy.”
The Biancocelesti have won six games out of 12. They beat both Roma and Inter, but their results have been disappointing against the so-called smaller teams.
“Lazio have always had highs and lows, especially after good results against top teams. Perhaps, it has to do with the approach,” explained Sarri.
“Training sessions are tricky. Sometimes the guys train greatly, but during the games, we are dead. However, I have good feelings with these men.”
Luis Alberto also scored a goal and seems to have solved his issues with the coach.
“Luis is a smart guy, If I have something to say about him, I say it to his face. This way, it’s easier to live together,” said Sarri.
The Tuscan tactician signed a two-year deal with Lazio in the summer, but there are reports he could already extend his stay at the club by signing a new agreement until 2025.
“I don’t know what to say. It’s something still in an embryonic phase,” the 62-year-old confirmed.
“I feel well at Lazio and I have fun with this group. The fanbase has surprised me: beautiful, passionate and patient.
“Napoli is something else. There aren’t many other places in the world where you get the same feelings, especially when things go well.”
