Gonzalo Higuain’s thunderbolt secured a 1-0 victory, their eighth in the last nine competitive games.

“We were focused only on this evening because we knew it would be a difficult game against a side that is tactically very organised,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“I am sure everyone will struggle at Chievo. We played well and worked hard, were unlucky to hit the post twice, but without great character we wouldn’t have left here with three points in the bag.

“Scudetto? I continue to say that’s blasphemy to even talk about it. Ask Roma about the Scudetto. There’s no point talking about second place either, as we have to focus on Wednesday.”

In the midweek round on Wednesday night, Napoli will host Palermo, who held Inter 1-1 yesterday.

“It won’t be easy to play after such a tough match and the Europa League last Thursday, especially when Palermo have had an extra 24 hours to rest. I don’t think that’s right, as next Sunday we’ll be playing our fifth game in 10 days and facing a side that has played three in eight days.

“Evidently they didn’t look out for the sides in the Europa League when drawing up the fixture list, as we are facing teams with fresher legs.

“Let nobody complain about the UEFA ranking, because it’s tough to give your best in these circumstances. This is a positive period of form, but doing it for 10 months is another matter.”
