Elseid Hysaj’s agent claims Maurizio Sarri’s move from Napoli to Chelsea prevented his client from heading in the same direction.

The former Partenopei Coach was finally confirmed as Antonio Conte’s successor last month, following a lengthy period of negotiation to relieve him from his contract.

As part of the terms of the eventual deal, San Paolo President Aurelio De Laurentiis demanded Sarri would not attempt to take any of his former Napoli players with him to Stamford Bridge.

And Mario Giuffredi insists this cost the 24-year-old Albanian a lucrative move to the Premier League.

“For Elseid, we were talking about a transfer to Chelsea,” the agent told RMC Sport Network.

“But then, Sarri’s move was completed and unfortunately the possibility of him going was denied.

“We had been discussing it for months, in order to make the opportunity happen.”

Giuffredi added that Napoli should be ‘in a rush’ to tie the full-back down to a new contract, given he will only have two years remaining on his current deal after the end of this season.

“We are not in any rush. Elseid will only have two years of contract left.

“It will be Napoli who are in a rush.

“At the end of the season, when he has two years left, we will discuss it – although we are available now too.”
