“It’s not a bad thing to read or feel that your way of playing is appreciated by great teams,” Skriniar told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“But I have never thought about leaving.

“I’ve always said let’s see what Inter decide. For me it’s fine.

“We are Inter, which by definition is a club which should always be at the top.

“We are already stronger than we were last season. The target is to stay at a high level and get great results in the Champions League.

“For me, it will be my first time in the competition.

“I don’t have any doubts. The opposition changes nothing, we can do great things against Real Madrid and Barcelona too.

“Inter are a top club and we want to get through the group phase.”

Skriniar added that his agent is in talks with Inter over a contract extension and ruled out the possibility of ever playing for another Italian team.

“It’s not done yet, my agent is talking with the club and we’ll see what happens.

“In Italy I will only play for Inter.”
