Napoli Coach Maurizio Sarri warns against complacency when facing Carpi – “this is not an easy match”.

The Vesuviani are coming off the back of two 5-0 wins, and are facing the newly-promoted side, who have yet to win a match.

“In the past this team has made too many mistakes in matches like this,” Sarri cautioned in his pre-match Press conference.

“Carpi are a hard team to deal with, we have to be ready, knowing what we’ll find. Action-by-action, we have to try and move this game to our favour.

“Carpi are a hard team to deal with, we have to be ready, knowing what we’ll find. Action-by-action, we have to try and move this game to our favour.

“I definitely don’t expect a lot of chances, this is not an easy match. With Fiorentina they missed chances, they deserved a different result.

“From a physical point of view we’ll probably have to employ some rotation, even if mentally it would be important to stick with the same team for consitency.”

Sarri has deployed a 4-3-3 shape in the past two matches, but despite 10 goals in those two games, the former Empoli boss doesn’t think the formation is the most important thing.

“I think 4-3-3 is helping us more in defence than in attack. Ultimately I don’t think a change of formation is crucial to the results of a team.

“The physical and mental condition has changed, things have gone in our favour, and that’s made everything easier.

“We don’t need to do too much in defence, because they’re great players. We just have to work hard in defence, we’re working to make those movements automatic.”

Juventus visit San Paolo next Saturday, but the tactician insists his thoughts are firmly on the game against Carpi.

“We’re not thinking about Juventus at all right now. We’re only thinking of the test against Carpi, which will be very difficult.”
