Despite Lazio‘s 5-1 loss against Midtjylland last night, Maurizio Sarri appeared to aim dig at city rivals Roma: ‘Without humility, you make a bad impression in Europe as it happened to other teams last season.’

The Biancocelesti suffered their second defeat this term, the first one in Europa League. Their trip to Midtjylland ended in a 5-1 loss and Sarri was understandably irritated after the game.

The Tuscan boss criticised the team’s attitude, saying that his players were arrogant and presumptuous.

During his post-match press conference, Sarri appeared to aim dig at Lazio’s city rivals Roma, who had suffered a 6-1 defeat away at Bodo/Glimt in the Conference League group stage last season.

“Without humility, you make a bad impression in Europe, as it happened to other teams last season,” the Tuscan tactician said.

All teams in Lazio’s Group F have three points after the first two Europa League games. On the other hand, te Biancocelesti have collected 11 points in six Serie A games after three wins, two draws and one defeat.

They will travel to Cremonese on Sunday in the last match before the September international break.
