The midfielder has been linked with a move to the Bianconeri this winter, with reports Coach Massimiliano Allegri is still seeking a trequartista.
“It’s nice to be followed by prestigious teams,” Saponara admitted, speaking to Empoli Channel.
“But I have a job to do with Empoli. Everything else depends on that. I don’t think I’ll discuss anything in January, I want to finish the season with this team and achieve our goal of staying up.”
Saponara is ready to return from a three-game suspension at Sampdoria on Thursday, having been sent-off for dissent in the defeat to Frosinone.
“The anger is gone, I paid the price for a mistake I made. I’ve learned my lesson, I won’t get involved in any more of this kind of nonsense.
“It’s something that should be condemned for the image I gave and the harm I caused to the team. I think three games was harsh, but maybe they wanted to send a signal to those who might make this kind of mistake in the future.
“That’s ok, it’s an incident which won’t happen again.”
