“Davide is very happy in England and he’s not missing his homeland or Italian football in general. He’s working hard on a daily basis with so much enthusiasm.”

Santon, however, is having a few difficulties in the Premiership as his representative has admitted.

“These first few months have been useful so that he can settle,” Contratto continued. “Unfortunately injuries have slowed down his progress.

“However, he has a promising future and he is a part of the project at Newcastle.

“Once he also learns the language then he will be totally ready. Davide has talent and the desire to work. It’s just a matter of time.”
