Mario Alberto Santana is ready to sign a new contract at Fiorentina – but only if the club satisfy his demands.

The attacking midfielder, who has been in bright form lately, has less than three months left on his contract in Tuscany.

Talks over a renewal have taken place, but negotiations haven't been as smooth as his wing play in recent times.

"If it was up to me then I would stay here, but I'm not just going to sign a blank contract," he commented.

"Alex Del Piero may be able to do that at Juventus, but he has achieved a lot in his career. I want to see the desire of the club.

"The city has affection for me and this season, without taking a break, I have shown them who I am.

"An experience abroad? I'd like to stay here. The club have done a lot for me, they waited for me when I was injured, but I don't know why they are waiting for my contract to run out."

It's understood that the midfielder wants a new three-year deal at the Franchi, but the club are keener on a two-year agreement with an option for a third.
