Siena boss Giuseppe Sannino tactically outsmarted Roma this evening, but “I continue to believe Luis Enrique is a great Coach.”

The Tuscans earned a 1-1 draw at the Olimpico earlier this season and won 1-0 on home turf this evening thanks to an Emanuele Calaiò penalty.

“I continue to believe Luis Enrique is a great Coach and I respect him very much,” said Sannino after tactically outsmarting the Spaniard.

“I have to praise my players, who showed their willingness to sacrifice themselves in closing down every space.

“Roma play an attacking style of football, so it was obvious the provincial clubs would face them by clamming up and going on the counter.

“In the last 15 minutes we struggled a little, but clawed our way through to get the three very important points.”

This victory comes just days after Siena beat Napoli 2-1 in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final.

“We did good work, but now have to turn over the page and look to the next game. We’ve got to stay this humble, being aggressive on every ball.”
