Inter defender Walter Samuel says he is making progress towards recovery from his serious knee injury.

The veteran Argentine was ruled out for the rest of the season when he tore his cruciate ligaments in November.

Speaking to the Inter Channel, he said: "Now I am well again. I have already worked a lot. I am enjoying my family a little.

"Everything is going as planned. Yesterday I underwent a series of tests which all gave positive feedback, so my hope is that of being back available again before the end of the season.

"If I play or don't play it won't be a problem. If the team needs me, I hope to be able to give my contribution.

"I would like to once again thank everyone who has been close to me after the injury.

"I wanted to be in Abu Dhabi for the Club World Cup. I had already missed it with Boca because it coincided with my move to Italy."
