Juventus boss Gigi Del Neri is confident that Gigi Buffon can once again become the world's best goalkeeper.

Buffon returned to action last night in the Coppa Italia victory over Catania after back surgery had ruled him out of action since the 2010 World Cup.

"Buffon wasn't kept very busy, but he made a good save in the second half," the Coach commented. "I think that he is ready to return to the Buffon that he was before."

Del Neri now has a goalkeeping headache given that he has to choose between Buffon and Marco Storari, the man who has adequately replaced Gigi for the last six months.

"I have two important goalkeepers and I will make a decision based on what I think is right," the tactician added. "All my goalkeepers can do well in the championship."

The former Sampdoria tactician also made it clear that he has a good relationship with Buffon despite some frosty comments he made about the custodian earlier this term.

"No matter what the media say, Gigi and I have an excellent rapport," Del Neri added. "We've spoken more than people think."

After hailing Buffon, Del Neri also had words of praise for Felipe Melo who is currently unavailable for Serie A action because of suspension.

"He gave a good answer after the red card against Parma," he said. "His absence has been felt and I hope that he has understood this.

"With Felipe in the side the team feels more secure."

Del Neri also commented on the injury Luca Toni, who was only signed last Friday, sustained early on in the game.

"At the moment we are unlucky. We are waiting to have Amauri, Jorge Martinez and Vincenzo Iaquinta back. We have strikers. We simply have to wait for them to recover from injury."

Toni will undergo tests on his knee later today.
