Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero has invited the 12 Thai boys who were rescued from flooded caves to a match at Marassi.

Seventeen days after they got trapped underground, the group of 11-17 year olds emerged with their Coach, courtesy of a three-day-long operation to free them, which gripped the world’s attention.

“I have only one wish: to see a match with you at the Marassi stadium: I’d be honoured to welcome you to Genoa, football is life and you have won the World Cup of life thanks to God,” tweeted the patron.
