Sampdoria have released a statement denying that Lucas Torreira could leave – “there’s a great relationship”.
The player’s agent announced yesterday that the 20-year-old is keen to leave the club, but he and the media have been slapped-down by the Blucerchiati.
“In regard to the news published by the media, U.C Sampdoria stresses that there is no controversy with Torreira,” an official statement on Samp’s website reads.

“In regard to the news published by the media, U.C Sampdoria stresses that there is no controversy with Torreira,” an official statement on Samp’s website reads.
“We offer a reminder that the player has a contract which expires on June 30, 2021, which was signed with the ambition for a project of growth and improvement that the club had planned since his first appearances in Serie B [with Pescara].
“In consideration of the growth of Torreira, and also thanks to those who believed strongly in him, he was given a fair adjustment to his contract.
“The relationship with the lad is excellent and characterised by the utmost fairness.”
