Out of favour Milan forward Giampaolo Pazzini could be in line for a return to former club Sampdoria.

The striker spent two seasons with the Blucerchiati before departing for Inter, but has struggled for game time at Milan this season after moving across the San Siro divide in 2012, with the player’s wife criticising the club in an Instagram post yesterday.

Leggo reports that Pazzini will almost certainly depart the Rossoneri in January, as his contract is up at the end of the season and the 30-year-old has no intention of renewing his deal.

Such a situation would leave Milan at the risk of losing the player for nothing, so Leggo believes that CEO Adriano Galliani will try to find a buyer in January, with a return to Sampdoria the most likely option.

According to the newspaper, Milan could seek to recall Alessandro Matri from his loan spell with Genoa to fill the gap left by Pazzini, with M’Baye Niang being sent the other way.
