Sampdoria have opened the doors for an Antonio Cassano return – but only once the Inter man can afford to take a pay cut.

“His future is a return to Genoa, but he’s now happy where he is,” Doria Vice-President Edoardo Garrone told Radio RAI.

“He’s on good wages at the moment and Samp can only afford one or two contracts over the €1m figure.

“If he does come back to us then he would have to adjust his contract to a figure that we would be able to offer him.”

Cassano, 30, joined Sampdoria in 2007 from Real Madrid, but left the club in January 2011 after a falling out with President Riccardo Garrone.

The Italian international, who left Milan for Inter in the summer, reportedly nets €2.7m a campaign at San Siro.
