Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti insists “no-one ever talked about European dreams” after the weekend thrashing by Torino.
The Blucerchiati were beaten 4-1 in the showdown of the Europa League rivals, their third Serie A game without a win and the second defeat on the bounce.
“No-one ever talked about European dreams,” Osti declared in the mixed zone after the match.
“Today’s defeat gives us cause to reflect, we’ll lick our wounds and immediately start preparing for next week at Roma.

“Every team has to grow and that includes us. The numbers speak to that, we weren’t conceding many goals and now we’re in a period where we’re conceding a lot.
“Today Torino took advantage of every chance, but the beautiful thing about football is that there’s an examination every week, and now we have a chance to recover.
“I always say that Sampdoria must aim for the top half of the table, it’s been a while since we’ve managed higher than 10th but it’s all down to ourselves.”
